Start with the material identity
Check the compound name and the exact chemical form. For peptides, sequence, terminal modifications and salt form may matter. Confirm that the report identifies the material you intend to purchase.
Match the lot
The lot identifier is the link between the certificate and the material. A certificate for another batch cannot establish the analytical properties of the vial in front of you.
Understand the measurement
Read the method alongside the result. A chromatographic purity percentage does not automatically establish peptide content, vial fill amount, sterility or suitability for a particular experiment.
Review the supporting evidence
Look for the relevant chromatogram, identity data and method information. Decide whether the supplied tests answer your institution’s acceptance questions. Ask for clarification where they do not.
Keep the original record
Retain the original document alongside receiving records and the material specification. Preserve any revisions and the correspondence that resolved questions about the material.
